My family and I just returned from our cruise and it was a lot of fun. It was so good that we made reservations for the same time next year on the Escape.

The ship is new and clean. The finishes are all high-end and well done. There is nothing sloppy about the ship or its décor. The rooms are well laid out and the bathrooms, as mentioned in other reviews, are likely the best of any ship out there.

This review is a bit long but I would like to give enough information to be helpful to as many people as possible. I’ve organized it in sections so that you can skip over any information that may not be relevant. Here are the sections: the Haven, cabin, gym, entertainment, food, and tours.

Port Reviews

Nassau

Nassau was a waste of time. There apparently is a crime spree going on because the Freestyle Daily included warnings not to stray from the main street and shops, and to not wear expensive watches/jewelry or carry more cash than what was necessary. Because of this we were not looking to do much in Nassau. Furthermore, the shops are all a bunch of tourist traps, between the shops that advertise with the ship (Diamonds International and others like it) and sell cheap merchandise at inflated prices, and the anonymous stores that will openly rip you off, you're better off staying on the ship and enjoying the amenities there.

By the way, there's no place to get liquor in Nassau. There's one place named 700 on the main tourist drag but their prices exceed what you would pay for the same merchandise in the U.S. I asked about the price of a standard bottle of Macallan 12 and the clerk told me $72.

Miami

PortMiami is excellent. We drove into the port through the tunnel and made it straight to the curb where a porter took our bags. I parked in the garage in front of Terminal C and then walked to the terminal. Once we got inside the terminal, we were escorted to the Haven area where a clerk checked us in and then escorted us on to the ship. The entire process took less than 30 minutes.
