Embarkation in Ft Laud was simple and quick. Once on board we were very impressed with the Island Princess. It is elegant, classy and beautiful. We enjoyed every bit of the ship. Did not feel crowded at all. You could find a quiet place anywhere on the ship, unless you wanted to be in the main pool area. We heard there were 225 kids onboard and I think they were all at the pool because that was the only crowded noisy area we saw. We booked a balcony cabin that was very nice. The shower seemed smaller than other cruises we have taken on NCL and RCL, but it met its purpose. The service was great. We felt that everyone was willing to go beyond to help. We met a head waiter in the Bordeaux dining room named Hector, he was very professional and was always able to get our restricted meals due to allergies out perfectly. He made us feel comfortable with our requests and we did not even have to look for him, he was always there once we arrived. We had requested first seating but were told that it was full so we were placed on a waiting list. When we boarded our card said "anytime" seating. That was the only setback for us in this cruise. Anytime seating means that you can show up at anytime, but you have to wait in a line. The line was formed right outside the dining room and sometimes we waited 20 mins, other nights it was 45 mins. They could put a different system in place to give pagers for people to go and sit somewhere to wait. We were given a pager once, so we know they have them but for some reason they did not give them out everytime. The girl at the entrance was not very good because once we were taken back we noticed that there were a lot of empty tables. The couple behind us was seated next to us 15 mins after we were seated and the table was empty right next to ours. So I don't know who is at fault, but their system is definitely not very good. The food was "ok". Nothing to brag or complain about. We were not impressed with the food in the main cafeteria called Horizon Court. Not enough selection and the taste was definitely not up to the RCL standards that we are used to. Overall the cruise was wonderful, very relaxing and one that we enjoyed very much. Princess met our expectations.
