This was our first cruise ever and we really enjoyed it! As with anything there were things that were good and things that could use improvement and I hope this review helps travelers make their cruising decisions. We did not have our kids with us (hooray!) so I can't speak to children's activities.
Room: We had an ocean-view room which we found to be a comfortable size. The drawback was that our deck (7) had an outdoor seating/walking area so if our window was open people could see right into our room. We were not in our room a lot, but when we were the window was closed for privacy which really didn't allow us to take advantage of the views. Tip: bring an extension cord. We only had one outlet and it was very far away from the bed (my husband needed an outlet for his sleep apnea machine and it would have been impossible without the cord). The television was too small but the selection of stations was decent. I was happy to have a cable news channel to keep up on current events while we were at sea. By days three and four the ship definitely had a sewage odor in certain areas which was unpleasant. Thankfully not near our room.
Food: Dining room food was very good. The Windjammer (buffet) and Sorrento's (pizza) were pretty good, depending on what you ordered. I found that the salad bar items were very fresh and a good choice. One drawback was that there were only two soda machines, located next to each other on the 12th deck which was not very convenient. Room service breakfast items were VERY limited, however, the breakfast buffet was expansive. We were also told that room service was available 24 hours but we tried to order around 2:30 a.m. on the last night an were told that it was not available. Alcohol was top quality, mixed drinks were good and the drink package was a good value. We also had "my time dining" at the same time each night with the same group of people at our table and same wait staff each evening.
