Port of Galveston: Poor facilities; barely acceptable air conditioning; 1 road in and out that passes through 2 different ships coming and goings at the same time; long lines for baggage pickup, customs, and major traffic jams; I saw 1  soda vending machine, no food, and I would not have gotten out of line if I did because that would put me back at the end of the very long lines; signs were posted about remodeling of the port‐not much of that was evident. This place was such a mess that I would ask the cruise lines to avoid this port until its multiple problems are sorted out.

Galveston

I’ll focus on the Xcaret. Easy off ship and escorted to ferry and bus; tour guides steered several groups to “their” choice restaurant but recognized this for what it was and left after receiving horrible soft drinks; the rivers are an aerobic workout‐bring fins but no mask/snorkel and be prepared to work in the 7-foot deep water with no current‐did 1 route and ran out of energy to do the others; park is mostly geared to the pay activities; lots of educational exhibits but not much else; paths and roads are
all uneven so be careful walking and that’s why your knees hurt when you get back; did not encounter any place that had air conditioning, even the food venues; pay in pesos with a good exchange rate (a can of Pepsi was $2.00); would not return here as it was all very staged and man‐made feeling. We have been to Xel‐ha and that park is far superior.

Windjammer Café: superior service topping the dining rooms; hot food was hot most of the time; quality and varied selections that had actual taste; there were a few missteps but overall very good; suggestion would be to have the floor cleaned between meal services and have cold food, especially the ice cream, kept colder.Dining rooms: After 2 dinners and 1 breakfast we quit going here; very poor table service; horrible chairs with no seat cushion, like sitting on a bench (and you sit here for at least 2 hours); hot food was cold and tasteless; cold food was warm and tasteless; they allowed people in wearing shorts, tank tops and t‐shirts.
