We have cruised via Norwegian and Carnival and wanted to try Royal Caribbean, we have been told that they are the better ships. I chose this cruise because of the ports that it visited. We are more interested in visiting the islands and getting local experiences than lounging on the ship while in port. Adventure of the Seas is a very large ship with multiple activities occurring simultaneously! We had adjoining cabins for a family of 4, 2 teens and 2 adults. Our cabins 7605 and 7606 were very nicely decorated and clean. We were thankful to have a window to look over the activity in the "promenade". There was a host of activities daily with the shopping and bar area within the promenade closing at 1am, so the base players music could be heard until 1am. We didn't mind because we usually did not get back to our room until well after midnight. We attended some of the shows including the headliner and the opening show which I thought were excellent. My husband and I went to see the orchestra perform music of the Big Band Era. I would have liked to see them more often with a variety of music, as they were very entertaining. The kids meet other teens in their designated lounge and were entertained all week. My husband and I enjoyed the duck and dog bar with nightly entertainment as well as the nightly trivia and piano bar. There are many activities that we missed because you can't be 2 places at once. We also liked going to Bar on the Top Deck for a night cap as the view was amazing.

We did not go on any of the cruiseline excursions, but planned similar excursions on our own. Royal Caribbean excursion pricing is significantly higher than what the cost for similar excursions booked without using the cruiseline, so do your homework.

My family prefers to dine in the main dining room rather than buffet style. The food was very good, there were a couple of times when someone order a dish that they did not like and the wait staff quickly brought another dish. I enjoyed the seafood dishes. There was something for everyone. The only disappointment in the dining room was the desserts. Most of the desserts were of a gelatin texture, even the tiramisu was not cake or lady fingers. I did like the fruit pastry and bread pudding. We only ate at the Windjammer upon boarding and one morning when we woke up too late to go to main dining room. Windjammer Food was buffet....not great, but you can't go wrong with the fruit!!
