Sail Date: May 2016

We went on this trip and stayed in Venice the day before to rest and tour the magical city, the next day we arrived in the port almost 5 hours before departure, we do this to avoid the crowds at check in, was fairly smooth, we are familiar with Norwegian and it's freestyle cruising, which is great, you can do literally anything you want in the ship at anytime, don't have to worry about schedules or anything, want to eat all day? be in the pool? play cards all the time, the gym? read a book? yes you can do that and more.

Our cabin was upgraded with an oceanview stateroom, which was very nice and added a plus to this cruise. Meals are included and they are ok, also some restaurants are too, there are others with a la carte munu with charge, but we prefer the buffet.

The staff is very helpful, Norwegian knows how to please passengers with superb attitude by it's employees and virtually all languages are spoken onboard in case you don't understand something.

Port Reviews

Athens (Piraeus)

Right across from where you disembark, there is a bus that takes you right to the footsteps of the Acropolis for 4.50 Euros roundtrip, which is great.

Just consider traffic when coming back, Athens is a very busy city so plan ahead your day and be sure where to take the bus on your way to the ship, in this case the returning bus is across the street from where they left you, just follow the sings and the route map.

Santorini

Try to be on the first groups to disembark which in this case is by tender, and it might take a while, so you don't waste time waiting. Once you are there take the cable car on you way up, and depending on the time of the year, the lines for it can be up to a 2 hour wait, so if you can, walk down, looks like a long way but it is better to wait and sometimes like 4 or more cruises are at the port so you can imagine the scene.

Split

Split is a breeze, yo walk your way to the city, it's like a 5 or 10 minute walk, have an ice cream and relax, admire the old town and buy your last minute gifts, it is a very nice experience.

Dubrovnik

Buy the tickets for the bus the night before or upon arrival, the city is like a 20 minute or maybe less ride, it is an amazing place to visit, walk around the wall, which have incredible photo opportunities, and also have an ice cream which are cheap and delicious, people are very friendly and try thier best speaking in your language, which is very nice of them.
