This was cruise 25 for DW and I (Late 40’s) and it was in our top 5. This was a spur of the moment, very romantic, getaway for 2 after a disappointing cruise with the Kids this past Christmas on the Caribbean Princess with an upcoming CCL Family reunion cruise to Alaska at the end of the summer. While there has been a noticeable slip in RCCL’s service, food, and entertainment quality since we started sailing them again 3 years ago, awesome weather, great shore excursions, and our first time in a Suite (Junior) made for an outstanding experience overall.
As usual, we’ll do a day by day, but provide the highs and lows on the front side…
Highs: Liberty, with her new water slides, and dry dock spruce up is a substantial upgrade for Galveston vs the Navigator (especially after her refurb). We hit all of our ports on time, embarks and debarks were swift and painless, our cabin steward was top notch, we were paired well with two other likeminded couples for late seating dinner, VOOM was reasonable (89 bucks for the week), the skaters in the Ice show were most skilled (but the show was less impressive than others from a technical standpoint), the CD and Captain were most memorable individuals, and the Jr Suite was very much worth the extra $280 we paid to upgrade from our aft balcony.
EZ cruise is easy if you walk. If you take the shuttle, not so much.
Our beach Break to Nohoch Kay was very nice, but if you are just looking for a simple beach day this is one port where you don't have to pre-book anything.
Not nearly as good as it used to be. Will either do Nachi Comb or Aura through the same company next time.
One of our favorite places ever. Hope to just go there sometime soon.
