this is my 2nd cruise, FIRST RCI cruise, my previous was on the [Breakaway] in 2014 (also my very first cruise) - I decided to put up a review after testing these 2 different companies. we stayed in deck-13/d4 category - the room is adequate, compared to the Breakaway, the room is more narrow, but longer, the Breakaway had his/hers sinks - this one didn't. While the ship is gorgeous and plenty to offer,
1st - customer service, it always is a HIT or MISS, everyone's experience is different. I, unfortunately, got the bad end of the stick - at least, compared to the experience on the Breakaway that is. 1 - my staterroom attendant didnt even know my name nor my last name - the staterroom attendant on the Breakaway knew my name the moment i stepped into my room..the restaurant wait staffs were also poor in attitude on the Anthem.
2nd - the whole "Reservations" for dining. this method simply does not work. I was defaulted to "Dynamic Dining" and unfortunately, you could not simply walk-in and wait for a table at any of the complimentary restaurants on the Anthem, compared to the Breakaway, this did not happened, you could wait 10-20mins, but could always walk-in. On the Anthem, they want everyone to RSV which is garbage because, if you have seniors traveling then what? not being able to wait for a table on a complimentary restaurant is simply unacceptable. the wait staffs tells you "you can walk-in, but it'd be after 9PM" - this is laughable. why not offer 50% to RSV's and 50% to walk-in's? also, the food is mediocre. one thing the cooks are great at - ANYTHING BEEF related is GREAT, beyond beef, the rest is ..avg.
superb ease of travel via ferries and they operate every 10mins. also snorkeled
too much traffic at this port, waited 40mins just to get off the taxi whilst already being in the terminal area.
