My husband and I have been on many cruises and wanted to treat our grown up family to a cruise to celebrate my 60th birthday. We were governed by school holidays and we only wanted a 7 night cruise (in case they hated it). Britannia to the Fjords ticked all our boxes. We stayed in Southampton the night before to ensure that no-one missed the boat! We booked the Travelodge in the centre of town - basic but excellent value for money. We arrived at our allocated time and were in our cabins with our suitcases already delivered in less than half an hour. We had 4 superior deluxe cabins which were kept spotlessly clean by our stewards who were all friendly, helpful, discreet and efficient. The balconies were no smaller than those we had on Cunard but had the bonus of having sliding doors. Yes the ship is big but we knew that when we booked. The lifts did get busy at peak times but hey we were on holiday and we could spare a couple of minutes waiting. We have cruised with P&O before and the food on Britannia was exactly what we expected. We always managed to find tables in the buffet and the evening meal in the Oriental had something for everyone and we had a lovely round table by the window. We didn't find anything to complain about - my daughter said the only negative about our cruise on Britannia was the cruisers who wasted time and energy moaning instead of relaxing and enjoying themselves,
Did some last minute shopping before embarking.
