Busch Gardens in Summertime

Sail Date: April 2009
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

We have been on 7 cruises, 4 with RCCL. We have also traveled with Carnival and Disney. We traveled with my wife and 2 kids, girl 13, boy 11.

Embark/Debarkation: Excellent. We where there at 11am, had to wait for the ship to clear but RCCL was great. Once we cleared, got on immediately. Leaving the ship was the quickest of any ship. Got there at 6 am off by 6:20am. Very nice.

Ship: The ship is very beautiful. Everything was clean and well taken care of. Flow rider is great, and this ship has a lot of things to do. The big PROBLEM, over crowding. This ship would be prefect with 700-1000 less people, then again all ships would be better with less people. However, compared to other ships, this one felt very crowded. The windjammer seemed the same size as the Mariner, but with more people. You had to wait 20-45 mins for the flow rider and rock wall. It felt like Busch Gardens in July, with the $6.00 beers.

Food: The worst on any ship. The food is almost More uneatable. The windjammer, has always been kinda of questionable, but, the dinning room was not good either. The EXCEPTIONS, pizza is pretty good. We have never eaten at Portofino's or Chops, however, we had to after our second dinner service. We are glad we did. This was excellent in everyway. Hasan in Portofino's, attended to our every need. Very very good. It is worth the extra money.

Staff: Very good, they were very helpful. Our room steward, Heather, was the best we have had. Our dining room staff was very nice, but, very slow. It should not take 2 hours for the 3 coarse meal. Only MAJOR problem, is the bar staff. They want you to buy drinks, the always ask you for drinks. Not just once, but, all the time. They harass you. Its not good. Laying at the pool, all pools, or at Labadee, trying to relax, here they come yelling for drinks, all day.

Ports: Labadee- Nice island., plenty of places to hang out. DO NOT GO on the safari snorkel there are no fish on the reef. The reef is dead. I asked our guide why? He said they have over fished the reef and they keep every fish no matter of the size. Its sad. Montego Bay, Jamaica- The Ghetto the caribbean, enough said. Grand Cayman- We had to anchor on the other side of the island. If this happens to you. It takes 45-1hour to get to Georgetown. There is one pier and we had 3 cruise ships tendering into a very small area. Not good. We went to swim with the dolphins early and it was very nice. Kids love it. Cozumel- The best place on the trip. The water is wonderful. Lots of fish, good food, and great beaches.

Overall- This cruise is for people with kids. If you want a nice quite luxury cruise, this is not it. However, if you have kids and want a lot to do and do not mind lots and lots of people, this is it. They nickel and dime you, no free ice cream after 6pm, no orange juice after 10 am, Red Stripe beer $5.50., but other than that, not bad. Would I go back, with my kids yes, with my wife and I, no way. Less
