A new ship with only about 52 days at sea and this being the first time this ship sailed to these ports of call. as expected there are still several things to work out and improve upon.
The ship is lovely and there are many things to do to stay busy. I don't know why they would locate the library is such a noisy section of the ship. They also don't have many computers for people to use saying most guests choose to bring their own devices. This may be true but the few computers they have were busy when I went there. Make as many reservations for i-fly and other activities before your sail because they get fully booked.
The Essence of Gulangyu tour in Xiamen was a nightmare for our group. Overbooked so that only about half had a seat in the (very hot) theater, many stairs (the first 56 at the pier is only a start), a hill to walk up (paved), a long walk back to the ferry. Only beer or water with the meal at lunch. Disorganized and a lack of information about what was going on. The tour guide used her ID board for fanning herself instead of holding it aloft so people could follow. This place is hot. Consider your physical condition and take water with you. At least one person fainted from the heat during our tour. Get assurances this isn't overbooked. There was actually 2 show at the theater. One upstairs (even hotter) on the hour, then one on the main level on the half-hour). None of this was explained to us so there was a lot of confusion and anger. We couldn't get off the island early although two groups of about 50 each left the theater early due to lack of seating. Everyone came together and everyone had to leave together since the tour operator had a private ferry for our group of about 250.
We booked our own tour in the morning just to see the sights. A very modern and clean city/state. Getting on board was fairly typical. Which isn't exactly giving it praise.
Booked a tour using toursbylocals. It was great. went to the Viet. museum to see the water puppet show (and a lot more). Very interesting for children and to gain knowledge of the culture.
Went to Disneyland. about $30 US each way for taxi. Others told me it was not hard to get there using the subway if you are used to using subways. Very small Disney. able to do it all in one day. didn't open until 10:30 and then opened the rear at 11:00. Consider the heat. Not much shade and no misters to keep you cool.
Did a private tour seeing Sewon Fortress and the Korean Folk Village. Good places to go to if you don't need to go to another big city (Seoul) to see the typical sights.
