We chose this cruise because of the itinerary, the duration of the cruise and the price. We stayed in a veranda stateroom on the 8th floor. At first we had no idea that this was a once a year President`s cruise when the President/CEO of Celebrity cruised with the passengers. We spent an extra 2 days in Amsterdam pre cruise. We bought a 3 day travel pass and explored the city on our own and visited a few museums e.g. the Van Gogh, the Rijksmuseum, and other tourist attractions. We even use the travel pass to take us to the ship terminal by tram from the city central. Embarkation was a bit long and not as easy flowing as in North America. Once on the ship, the Silhouette was pretty much the same as all the other Solstice class ships. The first stop was Copenhagen, Denmark. We ventured on our own on the first day and bought hop-on-hop-off bus tickets on the second day to save us some walking. Free shuttles were offered for Rosenberg/Warnemunde, Germany because the ship docked at Rosenberg instead of Warnemunde since there were too many cruise ships at Warnemunde. We visited both towns and were glad that we did not take the 3 hour ride to Berlin. Tallinn, Estonia was a quaint little place where we paid for a $10 pp shuttle to the town centre and roamed around. Then came St. Petersburg where we joined a local tour, ALLA TOURS, for 3 days. Our guide was Elena who was very knowledgeable. Lunch was provided for all 3 days when we got to taste local food. Itinerary for the 3 days was packed and we managed to visit most attractions like the Hermitage, the Summer Palace, Church of Spilled Blood, Peter & Paul, St. Isaac`s, etc. We also took a ride on the subway. We were glad that we chose Alla Tours which was top notch in every way. On the evening of the first day, we were given complimentary tickets from Celebrity to a Russian ballet, The Bronze Horseman, at the Mariinsky Concert Hall/Theatre. We totally enjoyed the performance and appreciated Celebrity`s offer. It rained in Helsinki, Finland, where we also paid the $12 pp shuttle into town. We tasted the vendace (fried fish) and reindeer soup at the market by the waters. They were delicious especially on a cold and rainy day. The ship had to stall at sea for 10 hours before getting into Stockholm because of a storm and all excursions in Stockholm were cancelled. The sailing through the archipelago was very scenic and complimentary shuttle service to Stockholm city centre was provided in the evening when the ship got to Stockholm. Disembarkation the next day was smooth and we stayed in Stockholm for 2 days before we flew back home. We also bought a two day travel pass and went through the city using the trams, buses, trains as well as the metro. We were glad we went on this Baltic cruise and we had a great time!
