We took a family trip to celebrate milestone birthdays. After having cruised with Royal Caribbean multiple times before, I was very disappointed in the ship/experience. There were lots of crowds and it felt very campy (theme nights, game shows, etc). There are more bars on this ship than food offerings. Royal Caribbean is now charging for lots of extra things and has eliminated a course from dinner in the main dining room. The food was very poor. We had the same offerings in the Windjammer for every breakfast and nothing more interesting than a basic hotel type breakfast. The main dining room was no better.

The positives of the trip were beautiful ports of call (great time biking in Juneau and kayaking in Skagway through the organized shore excursions), excellent service from our head waiter and cabin steward, the cabin was very nice, tastefully redone in the past year or so and we enjoyed very good treatments in the spa. We also enjoyed a great dinner at Giovanni's, but had to pay extra for it. For the families traveling with their younger children, it seemed to have a lot of activities for the kids.

Unfortunately, it feels as though Royal Caribbean has moved to compete with the lower cost cruise lines. They pushed the drink packages every chance they had. I much preferred a more inclusive experience and will look for other lines that can offer that in the future.
