My husband and I are frequent land based European travelers. We have been on many ocean cruises and one previous river cruise. Recently retired, and planning even more travel, we "experimented" with Uniworld. Although this is not your typical river cruise, it is an outstanding way to experience Venice and the lagoon. In fact I can't imagine not being on our floating five star hotel while visiting there. Accommodations and tours in Milan, prior to embarkation, were also excellent.

Uniworld was outstanding in every regard. Wonderful ship, excellent service, outstanding organization of excursions, some of the best guides we have had the pleasure to learn from (Susan, art historian, was fantastic. We joined her for every art/history tour possible.)

Onboard food was very high quality and expertly prepared. We so enjoyed having "Italian fare " and wonderful local fresh fruits and vegetables. The food was on par with quality restaurants and we are not easy to please when it comes to food and drink. Wine is served complimentary at meals and it was fine. However my husband (wine snob) wanted more variety and higher quality so we purchased a variety of wine on land to enjoy with dinner. The staff graciously served us (no corkage fee!) our own wine and stored/chilled it for next day. We were so impressed as they followed through with this routine each day with continual excellent service. The bar service was also very good. Great variety of liquor and good bar tender. The front desk was efficiently run and all transactions handled with ease. Sound system for tours was outstanding. Very efficient to have your own recharging dock in your room. We will certainly river cruise with Uniworld again. They exceeded our expectations. We felt our cruise was great value for the level of service and dining quality we received. We are recommending Uniworld to friends and family and look forward to our next trip with them.
