Traveled with children

We drove from our home which is about 2 hours away into New Orleans on the morning of embarkation. The traffic was manageable but navigating the streets of New Orleans is by no means a pleasure. Glad we brought the gps. We arrived, the porter took our bags and we parked in the parking garage. 56.00 for four days but worth it for convenience and our peace of mind. Grabbed the kids and made our way in and through security. I must say this was the fastest embarkation we've had out of our 5 cruises. We arrived at 12:00pm and were on board eating lunch by 12:30.

The Fantasy is beautiful ship and the remodel has certainly made her shine. The water works was great and the kids really enjoyed it. We had time to play miniature golf and then go to the muster drill. The muster drill lasted all of about 15 mins. and we were out of there! Yeah! Fastest muster drill ever!! I was so glad since the kids would definitely have been crazy, or me first, if we'd had to wait the traditional 45 mins. to one hour. We actually got to see the sail away for a minute or so anyway and then we were off to register for camp carnival.

We requested and received the early dinner seating as the kids were with us. I actually hate the early seating as it's always so rushed in the afternoons to go get dressed and you lose alot of daylight time because you're either at dinner or getting ready to go to dinner. Yes, I know we could eat buffet but we really enjoy the dining room so we suck it up and go ahead and go. The wait staff was superb as usual. They really go out of their way to make the kids happy. You know when the kids change their mind 2 or 3 times and then can't ever get enough to drink. The food usually is always so good and I really look forward to eating in the dining room but I can honestly say that some of the dishes we ordered weren't really all that good. Sort of hit and miss. The lobster was great, of course, but I ordered crab cakes and veal parmesian one night and it was awful! The veal was soo tough I couldn't even cut it with my knife and the crab smelled like a week old dead fish! yuck! My kids are chicken nugget fanatics but did not like the chicken nuggets on board. They looked like a cheap imitation nugget so they stuck with the pizza which they loved so we were all happy.
