We selected this cruise because it covered much of Scandinavia. We've traveled on HAL before and generally felt it was a good value. We were upgraded to a small suite with a veranda which was lovely. The stateroom had alot of space. Since we were traveling with friends, they had the adjoining stateroom so our verandas were opened to make one large outdoor space. We arrived early to Copenhagen and spent a few days there before getting on the ship. HAL handled the transfers very well, from airport to hotel and then hotel to ship. Things went smoothly. Dining options are many onboard. We ate dinner in either the Vista Dining Room or the Lido. Breakfast/lunch usually in the Lido. Selections were many, quality was good. Staff always greeted everyone and seemed ready to provide whatever you might need. The entertainment we opted for was usually the classical - piano and violin. Both were very good. Shore excursions were okay-generally they tend to be overpriced and crowded. Our excursion to Helsinki was disappointing. The guide was not terribly good and didn't seem to do a very thorough job. The ship itself is showing its age-a refurbishing had been scheduled but the company went on strike so things are a bit worn around the edges.

Gothenburg

This was a city tour-guide was better than others we've had but still not great. Wanted more time walking around old section of Gothenburg.
