Flew US AIR from Detroit. Taxi from airport $19 plus 1$ a bag. Thanks to CC (Cruise Critic)for the tip. Having a duty free shop as you get on board was great. Just put your booze in your carry on. Saves on drinks. Thanks again CC for the tip. This was my wife and I's 4th cruise with Carnival. Great value. Cabin 7368 Inside cabin. large comfortable queensize bed. 2 pull downs if needed. Would have been crowded with 4 people but only the 2 of us. Three closets plus 3 drawer dresser. Plenty of room for 2. Short distance from rear elevator. direct to Pacific Dining room or up to the Lido deck and the adult pool area at the back of the ship. Hallway takes you to the most forward elevators for the nightly shows and the front debarkation area Ate every night in the dining room at the early seating. Met a nice couple from Ottawa that we looked forward to eating with and going over our day. Bosco our waiter from India was a delight. Food was excellent and plentiful. Always ordered a couple of appetizers with the meal. We had an inside room since we only go there to clean up and sleep. Mohammed our room Steward was great. Did a great job, good with the towel decorations and always called us by name. Had breakfast once in the main dining room (eggs benedict) and the rest on the Lido deck. Off the boat usually by 9am and back late afternoon. I Kind of missed having a day or two "at Sea" to really explore the ship and lounge on deck. No time on this cruise. Too much to do in the ports. The entertainment was better then I expected. The Cuban Juggler/Comedian was very good and the Comedian (Percy Cruise) was great. Went and saw him at his late night adult show. Have to say his early show was more entertaining. The late show in the lounge was the only time we bought a drink on the ship. It's nice not having to smuggle booze on to the ship from the islands in your water bottle. Debarkation was smooth. Not flying out that Sunday we had time for a leisurely breakfast on the Lido deck and awaited for number 17 to be called. We had booked the Milano Hotel in old San Juan. (clean and quaint, $100) We were able to walk there from the port.(suitcases with wheels) Left our luggage at the front desk and went off to visit this wonderful place. Hopped on the free trolley and got off at the old fort at the far end of town. $3 cover and a good visit with great views, history and free guided tours. The streets are like old Europe and you can walk everywhere. Best shopping of the week. Lots of cafes. Ate at a Mexican sidewalk cafe. My wife had Puerto Rican and I had Mexican. Everything deep fried. The next day caught a cab half a block away from the Milano where they all line up. Again $19 plus $2 for the trip to the airport. MAYHEM at San Juan airport. Didn't know you had to line up in the USDA line before you line up in the airlines line to get your colored sticker. They are scanning for anything organic. (palm leaves made into flowers are not allowed). Well our US AIR plane was delayed 6 hours, so our connecting flight in Philly was useless. US Air put us up at a beautiful hotel in Old San Juan; The El Convento ($525 a night)and paid for cab fare plus money for supper and breakfast. Spent another beautiful day in Old San Juan at the Airlines expense. Perfect ending to a great vacation. The Carnival cruises we have taken (this was number 4) have to be considered top value for the money. Don't put alot of money into a room we only use sparingly but get to enjoy a beautiful ship with all the trappings. Can always count on carnival so our only consideration is the ports of call./ We will be back on board soon, somewhere.
