We chose this cruise because we liked the itinerary and free style cruising.
- Ship. Old and run down. I understand it will be dry docked next year and I think its long overdue as we've been on the same ship about 7 years ago when it was in much better shape. Not only the ship was old, the crew did not do a good job in maintenance.
A lot of the public bathrooms were in bad shape and we had to call the maintenance several times to repair things in our room. Overall, bad!
We enjoyed riding on the Vaporatto and exploring. Must have a GPS or downloaded
map to navigate the island and the surrounding area.
This was gem! We took a taxi to the old town and did an hour sightseeing on the taxi which was well worth the money. No need to take the cable car, the taxi will take you
to the mountaintop for a view similar to the cable car. Walk on the city wall is a must,
as the view is breathtaking.
We rented a bike and rode around the shore road and it was just beautiful. You can take a dip in the water which was very refreshing towards the end of May.
Acropolis was nice but the new Museum was even better. The ride from the port and back was done with taxi. It was pleasant and fast. Try eating in the back streets, cause the touristy area are expensive.
Another gem! We rented a scooter for 20 euros for all day and spent 3 euros for gas. Highly recommend the scooter because the island is very hilly and can't get
very far on foot. Went to many beautiful beaches on the scooter which we wouldn't
of been able to do otherwise.
I hate to say it but it was the dirtiest city we've ever been to. If you have not been to
Capri, Sorrento or Ischia, do yourself a favor and tour any place but Napoli. And, if
you decide to do Napoli, skip the National Museum of Archeology, it was most disappointing.
We've been to Rome so we decided to stay in Civitavecchia and had a wonderful
day. The street market was wonderful and do try some of the local fruits and cheese and such. Also, took a train and went one stop to Santa Marinella and there is a
wonderful beach you can explore.
Hired a cab to do Florence and Pisa. Great choice it was! We got 7 of us all together from the ship and got a Minivan with a driver for 280 euros.
You can buy a city pass for 6 euros for the bus rides all day and that included the cable car ride as well. Several beaches to explore and had a wonderful time.
