Norwegian is the "Frontier Airlines" of cruise ships in comparison to others that I've been on. The Good: Superb rooms. While slightly smaller than other ships, it is still more than adequate. Excellent housekeeping staff. Food was superb. My group never had a bad meal, and if mistakes were made (overcooked steak), they went out of their way to make sure it was corrected.

The Bad: Nickel and dime effort every step of the way. In port, they charge you tax on drinks on your "Ultimate Beverage Package." Granted it was only $1-$2, but that should be built into the beverage package. Every additional charge you make has some service charge attached. Order a bottle of wine - 18% charge. The complimentary dining rooms offer the basic meals, but list a series of upgrades at additional fees PLUS 18%. Remember, you are already paying an 18% service fee on your entire cruise, so adding the additional 18% is ridiculous. Some entertainment also comes with an additional fee, plus the 18% I'm sure.

Port excursions are disorganized. Only a single entry/exit point in the port, so it is a cattle call getting off. Then you find your line that you may stand in for 30-45 minutes, then head to another waiting point. On the Belize River excursion, we were in lines for almost 90 minutes before we finally headed out. Excursions were very, very basic and kept relatively short. So it seems like they rush you through the excursion.

Excellent room, but lots of noise from two floors up (14th floor). Running, pounding feet from whatever activity kept up until midnight every night.
