The Cape Liberty traffic was pretty bad with everyone getting on and off the ship going to the same very small area. That could be fixed but I doubt it will be.

First, the ship is beautiful and easy to get around. This was the largest ship we’ve been on and we weren’t sure if we would like it but as it turned out, we never got the feeling that it was too big or over crowded (I have no idea if we were at capacity).

The check in process was very different than we’ve experienced in the past. The RCI reps, armed with ipads were roaming around the passenger drop off point and quickly process you if you’ve already checked in online. It worked better than it looked, at least for us.

Port Reviews

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

Very bad traffic flow to get in and out of the port. Thousands of people trying to get on and off all going through one very small luggage and passenger drop off and pickup area. They put the parking garage right next to this and adding to the chaos. It might work for a ship with a thousand guests but not for four thousands. You better make sure you leave 2 or 3 times the needed time to get to the airports. If you’re going to use a car service, understand the he will be locked in that traffic and will most likely be late for your agreed upon pickup time.

San Juan

We were only at eh port for a few hours so we decided not to do an excursion since it would have been too rushed and not enjoyable. We did walk around a bit, some of the city was nice, most was not. CVS and Walgreens were the big attractions.

Labadee

The food was very poor and only 2 hours for lunch for so many passengers made for very long lines. Either they need to make more buffets or extend the hours. The water was very nice but the bottom was very rocky then turned to high thick seaweed. We preferred Coco Cay but wonder if RCI reduced the quality of food there too. The good thing about Labadee is that you’re docked so your best bet would be to walk back to the ship for better lunch options.
