Stateroom 9532: We had a great cruise, our 9th. Dining room and cabin service on board was great. Food on board was very good. Long wait in line for guest relations desk--not enough help behind the counter, staff was also responsible for answering phone calls which seemed to take priority over the persons at the desk being helped and over those in line. Ship was clean and for the most part, never seemed crowded. Ship was recently renovated:Theater was too small and could not accommodate all the passengers wanting to view a movie we attended. A few of the bathrooms had a bad smell as did ours in our stateroom. Our stateroom was smaller than others on the same floor with a wide chair instead of a couch--probably about 3 feet shallower than other cabins. Balcony was also smaller-pie shaped because of the curve of the ship. For several hours on two separate days our toilet was not working in our stateroom. We paid to have internet service throughout the cruise but internet was out of service on two days of the trip. Boarding and disembarkation went very smoothly. Everyone was off the ship by 9 am the morning of disembarkation so if you are hiring a shuttle to the airport on your own, make it early. Entertainment on ship was less impressive than we have experienced on other cruise lines. Only one night was there a "Las Vegas" type musical show. One night had a magician, a couple of nights had small musical groups. What would have added to the cruise would have been a "historian" to talk about the various ruins/ports we visited. We booked our excursions on our own and had a good experience that was cheaper with much smaller groups than those offered by the cruise lines.

Port Reviews

Taormina (Messina)

We took the train from Messina to Taormina. One member of our group had researched it extensively and someone on Cruise critic had even posted pictures of landmarks to look for on the walk to the train station. Took a shuttle from the train to Taormina. Lots of walking required but very pretty. My husband and I took a taxi from the train back to the ship at the need of the day.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Stayed in Rome at the Corso 281 Luxury Suites (Via del Corso, 281 - Roma) for 2 nights prior to cruise. Great place to stay, friendly staff, great room, breakfast included. Took a tour bus around the city. Took a Taxi to the Vatican and back to the hotel.

Mykonos

Very pretty town. Took the water taxi, then a significant walk thru town to reach the local bus to a beach. Water was really rough and beach was rocky and tough to walk on. Wear shoes! Local business at the beach wanted $20 Euro in rent per lounge to use their beach. Walked past that beach to an adjacent area and just sat on towels provided by the ship. Beach was "clothes-optional".
