This was a multi family cruise; 21 people all total. For us, we chose Carnival because of our adult children (2 plus spouses). They still live in jeans and very casual clothes. We figured this was best for all. This was their first trip to Europe; this was more important than worrying about clothes.
I must admit, our first encounter was terrible. The computers were down at embarkation. We took a pre-cruise excursion to Montserrat, a monastery outside of Barcelona. I'd highly recommend it. When the bus dropped us off, the line trying to check-in was horrendous; hundreds of people in line. As it turned out, the computers were down. It took well over 1 1/2 to check in and I had priority check-in. Obviously this wasn't Carnival's fault. This is why I rated Embarkation as poor.
My husband and I booked a wrap around balcony in the new Havana category. We were not disappointed, quite the opposite. The cabin size etc was no different from the other Carnival ships. The amenities were great. In addition to upgraded toiletries, the Havana guests have their private staircase to the Havana Club and pool area located in the aft. Until 5 PM daily, guests must show a wristband for admittance to the area. We had our own pool, 2 hot tubs, bar as well as great lounge chairs and loungers. My only complaint would be the 5 PM time; after that all ship guests can use the area. If you are on shore all day, the last thing you want to do is share the area with the other guests. I'd suggest Carnival extend that time to 7 PM.
Excellent
Did the hop on hop off bus. we saw a lot of Naples we'd never seen before. We'd always heard negative comments about Naples. It is dirty but a nice city.
