The cruise was well organized and run efficiently. The port visits were timely and they were careful to have us check back in making sure who had boarded - I appreciate this safety precaution as I do on all cruises. But they always had a wonderful welcoming group there to smile and ask if you had a good time, etc. That was pleasant! The main area is pretty smokey, but the rooms weren't so that was ok. The bars were really fun and there were so many different environments that you could find something that suited you easily.
The front desk staff was not friendly. On two occasions we went to them and they were pretty uninterested in our concerns. One was that we had a balcony but we were looking at one of the little boats... we had paid top dollar for that suite. They looked over our reservation and it seemed because we hadn't booked through them that they didn't really care. They told us they gave us what they promised and sent us away. An hour later some friends of ours who had booked through NCL came up with a room complaint and were immediately moved. whatever.Second time we complained because my roomate who was vegetarian somehow was given a soup with meat sauce in it. She had terrible stomach trouble and the desk said she was quarantined to her room & we were told to stay there till everyone disembarked and they would come get it. Two hours later we were calling the front desk and they had no idea why we were still in our cabin.
So, The cruise was great, the front desk was not. As long as you don't have to deal with them, you will have a wonderful time.
It is a good hour from Rome to the port, be sure and plan for this.
