The Jewell is a smaller ship and well run. The staff is friendly but not overly "familiar" which I appreciate. We had great weather which added to the beauty of Alaska and happy cruisers. The entertainment, especially the Russians, was better than average. You can leave most of your dress up clothes at home....everyone is so tired from exploring that they just go to dinner in jeans except for a night or two. All of our ports were interesting and cruising past the glacier a delight for the senses. Definitely spring for a balcony for this cruise.
I cruised to Mexico on the Jewell in October and it continues to feel like a family who is glad to have you visit them. They are genuine in wanting to help and no one from the spa to the photos to the drinks pushes their product...they are there if you want but it's ok if you don't. That makes it so much more relaxing to me.
This is a great location! It is a little tattered...carpet needs to be replaced soon...but it is clean and located near everything you need every day, and it is on the best side for viewing on this Alaskan cruise.
We did not take an excursion in Seattle
