Sail Date: May 2016

Boy, did we need a get-away! We love going out of Bayone because as CT residents it involves no flights for us. Went by car to Cape Liberty early Sunday and were on the ship by 11:30, Amazing what They have done to make that port so much more reasonable for embarkation. We have sailed the Summit several times, so it was very calming to know that we would not have to learn a new ship....we just wanted to relax!

However, the flavor of the Summit has changed over the past six years. On our first trip we were greeted by waiters serving welcoming drinks with a lovely harpist playing quietly in the background. Now one is greeted with the drinks and staff pushing dinner reservations, shore excursions, drink packages, and other passengers shoving to get into various lines while waiting to move on! That about says it in a nutshell. "Modern Luxury" really means getting rid of a certain level of class, it seems.

While the staff is courteous and attentive as ever, the whole flavor has changed.. It's all about the profit.....and it's the little things...Perhaps this is because it is just a one week trip, but the daily activities were bare bones and lots of special touches were missing. ...no special buffets of any kind anymore, and even the last nights traditional Parade of Waiters is gone forever.
