We choose this cruise to try out the new Anthem ship with family. The ship is beautiful. The crew lives up to the Royal sensibility of extremely friendly and helpful. Our group included 10 adults a 6 yo and an 11 yo. I think that the ship appealed to all ages and there were activities for all to enjoy. That being said here are the things that I did not like about the ship. We chose the classic dining. I loved having the same waitstaff each night. They were attentive and eager to accommodate any request. The food was disappointing. Except for Silk restaurant, it was basically the same menu each night. In addition to boring the choices were limited. One night the horseradish-encrusted salmon had not even a hint of horseradish and had such a strong fish taste it was inedible. We ate at Windjammer for one dinner and that was also disappointing in limited choices. Now the on-board shopping- shops were nice. They had a few specials: $10 accessories or $10 tee shirts for an hour only. "Gold" by the inch had very limited selections. Staff was overwhelmed by the crowds and there were extremely long lines waiting to pay. I booked a future cruise Tuesday morning and did not receive my on-board credit until 11am the night before we docked. Every time I called guest services I was told it was being processed and should appear on my account within 11 minutes; 30 minutes to an hour. That was all day. Entertainment: Star Wars movie on deck one night there were only about 20 seats that were screen visible. It was a very windy evening and yet there were no towels being handed out no popcorn as with Princess cruises. Entertainment they had an a capella group Mosaic that was great, but the show was short. We Will Rock You was good. Spectra's Closet was okay, The Gift was just odd. Overall great ship with a lot of "glitches" that were fixable and inexcusable. Overall sloppiness. I lived Oasis and Allure. Anthem does not live up to the Royal standard. We will not be back on this one.

Beautifully appointed. A bit roomier than past staterooms of the same category. Whatever the cleaned the bathroom with triggered an immediate coughing fit everytime.
