This was our first trip to Alaska, sailing on the Norwegian Pearl to celebrate our 25th anniversary.

We were offered an upgrade from a balcony mid-ship room to an aft penthouse suite 8130 four days before sailing and snatched it up, even though we weren't sure exactly what we would do with a butler. In the end, we only used him for one room service breakfast, and to bring snacks and deck blankets because the weather was awesome and we spent a lot of time the awesome balcony loungers watching the mountains and glaciers go by. The room was plenty spacious, with tons of storage space and a nice sized bathroom. Some of the furnishings are showing their wear and could use an update. The chair in our room was fairly beat up, but not enough to complain about.

After we got through security and got to the check-in room it was a bit after noon, and we asked where the priority check in for suite guests was. We got directed to the general line. But after checking in there, we were whisked away to the priority check room hiding in the back. They gave us our cards and the concierge walked us up to Cagney's. There was some backup in seating there, so they put us in Moderno with 2 other families and promptly forgot we were there for about a half hour. Once we reminded them we were seated quickly. There were plenty of empty tables, so I'm not sure what happened. A bit of bumpy start.

Cabin Review

Penthouse with Large Balcony

Cabin SF

Awesome views from the large aft balcony when touring glacier bay. Bed was very comfortable and there was an abundance of storage space.

Port Reviews

Seattle

We spent 3 days in Seattle prior to our cruise. We did all the touristy items - space needle, market, underground tour, Boeing Factory. We also did a Mt Rainier tour booked through Tours Northwest. It was an excellent tour with plenty of time at stops and a lunch stop at Paradise. We were picked up and returned to our hotel, the Marriott on the water front, right across from the NCL pier. The hotel was very good as well, with an easy walk to the pier for embarkation.

Glacier Bay

Weather couldn't have been better. Enjoyed scenery with bright blue skies from balcony and from forward decks. Got close enough to the glaciers to see them calve a few times.
