Sail Date: May 2016

My family recent sailed the Getaway 5/15/16-5/22/16. Before I get started, a little back ground on our crew. I traveled with my parents, husband (we’re both 27), my sister (22), and brother-in-law (23). I’ve been on 15 cruises prior to this one and our go to cruise line is Carnival due to the value they provide. This was our first cruise with Norwegian and the largest ship we've ever been on.

The Ship:

Comparing it to the other cruises I've been on, I'd have to say that I didn't care for the Getaway. With 4,000 passengers you'd think their lounges & entertainment venues would be larger to hold more people, and that the flow of the ship would be more open to accommodate more people, wrong! The pool deck was tiny. Usually ships have at least two larger pools and a kiddy pool, this ship only had one of each making it very crowded. I guess they had to make room for the water park and the ropes course on the outside decks. The atrium was a cluster, while it was a great concept there was never enough room for people to watch the entertainment they put on there. Another thing I felt they did wrong was the flow of the casino. It was smack dab in the middle of 6-7-8 Place, making the flow very choppy. I think if they completely eliminated the atrium, and vibe area (I’m sorry but Spice H2O was quiet and relaxing, why pay extra for the same type of atmosphere?), expanded the theatre and only do one show per night, they could have greatly improved the flow of the ship.
