Wanted a cruise that went to many different ports.....this ship went to 4. I also wanted to be on a newer ship....which the Getaway is. It was a beautiful ship. All the staff on this ship was very friendly. I would have rated this cruise 5 stars but I was very disappointed in the port excursions....many were not as advertised.
We purchased the drink package which is the way to go if you plan on ordering 2 or more drinks a day. We also purchased the upgraded dining package which we really enjoyed except for the fact that you HAVE to make reservations. This is difficult because sometimes there were activities going on at the same time we had dining reservations. The food on the buffet was good too....don't know why some people gave it low ratings. The only restaurant that we did not like (and we tried it twice just to be sure) was O'Sheehan's which is sad because I love Irish food.
We read a bunch of issues about embarking and disembarking and we had no problems. Disembarking went smooth as butter and we left are room and were in the parking lot within 45 minutes. The key here for us is that we took our own bags.
We loved our cabin and loved the view from our room. We liked that it was close to the stairway/elevators for easy access. Very quite.
