Sail Date: May 2016
Cabin: Ocean View 6

We were last on the Summit in August 2015 so we returned post dry-dock with Captain Kate. We parked at the port ($20/day). Getting on and off the ship was handled smoothly. Our Oceanview cabin 3114 was ready at 1pm. It has a large window (6 ft. diameter) in a quiet corridor close to mid-ship.

Cabin steward Joanna was excellent. We enjoyed nice perks this time - classic beverage package, $300 Onboard credits and gratuities were also covered. We didn’t upgrade to the Premium package. There were plenty of choices for our level of moderate consumption. Our muster station was the Rendezvous Lounge. It was the only time we felt crowded on the ship. At the Cruise Critic Meet and Mingle party we got a code for 60 minutes of free internet to use before midnight.

We had the Elite level breakfast at the Tuscan Grill each morning. It was much nicer setup than the prior year (outdated Normandy restaurant). While there were no hot items, it was a small yet plentiful buffet in a calm and pleasant atmosphere, with specialty coffee table service. Many waiters were around along with the Captain’s Club hostess to chat with and answer any questions. We had one breakfast at the Oceanview Café for the bigger appetite (omelets, waffles and cheese blintz). The Elite cocktail hour from 5 – 7 pm at the Revelations lounge allowed us to relax and mingle with friendly couples over drinks and canapés.

Cabin Review

Ocean View 6

Cabin 06

Large window (6 ft. diameter) in a quiet corridor close to mid-ship. Toilet is a newer model, sits a little higher. Cloth shower curtain. Use a hanger with clips from your closet to weigh it down on the bottom so the curtain does not hug you when taking a shower.

Plenty of light fixtures and a newer model safe. If beds are put together leave a gap, ask for a proper "egg crate" mattress cover. Convenient rarely-used public washroom steps away from the door.

Port Reviews

King's Wharf

Central bus station in Hamilton sells the card with 14 tickets for $37.50 (14 Zone) which can be shared with other family members and do not expire. Keep them for your next Bermuda vacation or give to friends who are going there. Those are not available at the Dockyards. Good on all buses and ferries.

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

Smooth embarkation and disembarkation, modern parking facility.
