This was my second cruise with Princess and my first visit to Alaska. I chose Princess because I was impressed with my previous cruise through them. Unfortunately I did not feel this cruise lived up to that one.
The ship is beautiful, but clearly getting a little old and in need of some TLC. The staff members were not very friendly. Our room steward was wonderful and a few of the waiters here and there were nice, but most of the crew didn't even smile when you talked to them.
The food was good in the International Café. The pizza was delicious and the French fries from the Titan grill were good. The Caribe buffet had a very good Indian day, but they only do lunch. Tea time was delightful.Other than that we found the food to be gross. The Horizon Court buffet was horrible. The sit down breakfasts that we went to were just ok, but mostly too salty. We went to two sit down dinners and were disappointed by them. The items were either not seasoned or overly salty. My sister and I both had Scallops one night and they weren't cooked properly.
This was a beautiful balcony room. We really enjoyed the views for the entire ship and we saw many orca and humpback whales, porpoises, seals, and even bears from our balcony. Bring your binoculars and have breakfast while you watch the scenery!
We arrived in the airport, got our luggage, and met with a Princess agent. We then took a bus to the ship and we checked in and boarded. Very smooth process and not too much wait time.
We got off the ship and we were greeted by a Bald Eagle in a tree. We went straight to Tracy's Crab Shack and had King Crab for lunch. Delicious!!!!! We then walked around town and shopped for souvenirs.
