Waited a week before posting so I could calm down. Disappointment started before we boarded the ship. In some cases, such as a single mother traveling with a child, one needs more documentation than a passport or you don't board. Not mentioned in any NCL terms & conditions. Also not mentioned is all dining rooms & specialty restaurants are now charging a la carte. The only places to eat without paying extra are the pool buffet or O'Shanahans Pub where the food & service are terrible. O'Shanahans has 3 bowling lanes, but I never saw anyone using them, as it's very expensive. There is even a charge for room service. One day I asked at Guest Services if there was someplace I could exchange a 100 euro bill for smaller denominations, the answer was, "No, next please". REALLY! Never again. We sailed the Epic in the Caribbean & obviously enjoyed it, but things have changed.
The cabin was nice & very well maintained by our butler & his assistant. The balcony was very small for a suite. The Haven pool area, however was over run with uncontrolled children. I think a staff member should have intervened brought some order. It was not very "havenly".
We took a private tour of the Amalfi Coast,
We took a private tour of Rome & were able to get into the Vatican & St. Peter's Bassilica l with less than an hour wait & no reservation
We took a private tour of Pisa & Lucca. Got to see the Leaning Tower & had a great lunch in a quaint area of Lucca.
Toured Cannes on our own, enjoyed all the little shops, of course went to where the film festival is held & dipped our toes in the beach
