This was the second stage of our B2B cruises of the Pacific coast and Alaska. This was a bit of a disappointment bearing in mind we were now in the Royal Suite as oppose to the Concierge class we had in the first stage. First of all embarkation was a farce. We left the ship early and when we got our new passes we were told to got to desk 7 & 8 at US Immigration to avoid the queues. When we got back terminal staff would have none of this and made us queue for over an hour. The suite was nice and large with bath and shower (which was temperamental at best. The butler service was not much to write about. They did deliver afternoon tea and sandwiches but due to the port times we were never there to benefit from this. The Luminae restaurant was fine at first but then we realised the menu was not that inspiring and tended to use the Trellis menu instead. Whilst the waiter service was good they were constantly asking you how the food was. To us this was overly intrusive.
Production shows were good but the guest acts remained mediocre at best. Cruise director and staff were friendly and approachable. Shore trips were another matter - two out of three were cancelled. There was a delay in docking at Icy Strait for about an hour. As a result our tour left without us. Not sure what honey did as we were the only ship in port. The excuse was that this was the ships first call at the new terminal and they needed to configure the gangways. This would have been acceptable had it not been for the fact that the Millenium left immediately before us. This was the exact same class of ship. Do they not talk to each other? Our expectations were high especially after the first cruise but sadly these were not met on the second cruise.
Nice large cabin. Shower did not work very well. You would expect something better than toy binoculars in a suite.
