Just returned from a short two night cruise on the Dawn Princess. We were pleasantly surprised as we had previously sailed on the Sea Princess which is looking rather old and tired. Dawn Princess, even though of the same vintage, seemed to have been freshened up - the public areas seemed in better condition, newer carpets etc. The buffet restaurant also looked "refreshed" with nice new neutral décor and furnishings. Overall I thought it was a more attractive ship.

The staff were lovely and attentive, we couldn't fault the service we got. Food was also of a high standard, we ate in the main restaurant, buffet and pizza restaurant and it was all good. Had we stayed on the ship longer we would have tried the speciality restaurant as well.

Entertainment was good but as others have mentioned the Princess Theatre is quite small for a ship of this size. Luckily the night we went to a show the State of Origin football match was also on so the theatre wasn't as crowded as it would normally be. We saw the husband and wife team "Strings Alive" perform who are very talented musicians and singers.

Cabin Review

Oceanview

Cabin OE

Our cabin was fine, an D702 oceanview on deck 8 (Dolphin). It was on the same deck as the pizza restaurant and the casino but far enough away to not have any noise. We couldn't hear anything either from the Vista Lounge which is on the deck below.
