This was our 19th cruise, the 9th with Royal Caribbean.
This time we booked an aft Junior Suite on Vision of the Seas. A year agon we had a similar cabin on an Celebrity Ship and loved the size of the cabin and balcony.
Before we booked we checked the reviews and realized, that Suites on the Vision are only available on deck 8, the deck below the pool deck. As we had a horrible experience with sleepless nights on Majesty of the Seas we were careful. Aft Junior Suites are located below the relaxation room of the Spa, so no noise from above - TRUE!!
Great views from aft balcony, huge covered balcony but tremendous noise from open crew deck and vibrations from propellers
Venice is always perfect, just forget a map, start walking and experience the city
Great historic old town, climb up the city wall (it's 20 Euros entry) and walk the 5 miles all around the city
Lots of shops in the old town area but shop owners are very pushy. If you do not like that walk all along the promenade (left of the ship) to the new Marina. Great upscale shops, bars and restaurants
Take the cable car up to the island capital Fira. We always have breakfast and wine at the V-Lounge, great bar with incredible views. We then took the public bus to Oia, the most western village.
Not really a lot to see if you do not bother to go to Olympia. We wlaked around in the small village, then took the tourist train, which is really big fun. First stop is at the Mercouri winery. Zacharula was a greast host there and we tasted and bought some great wine. Next stop is a t a little beach, relaxing place. You can get off the train and take any of the next one, passing by every 30 minutes. Very relaxing way to spend the day
