the service and food on the Gem were much improved over our last cruise on it in Sept. After our trip last fall, we weren't looking forward so much, to this trip, but must say, we were pleasantly surprised. The reason we went on the same ship, again, is because both cruises were given to us by our casino. The ship was great, the ports, though, weren't. Were disappointed that Great Stirrup Cay was canceled due to maintenance issues. Found out only the day before and many didn't find out until we were on our way! Atlantis resort in Nassau is way over rated. Maybe if you're staying there it's ok, but as a one day guest it's nothing special and expensive. Aquarium wasn't what we expected, either.Port canaveral seemed in the middle of nowhere. Guess we chose the wrong excursions. Captain Lars of the Gem was very funny and knowledgable. Cruise director, Alvin, was better than last one. As on most cruise ships, the pool area and buffet were almost always too crowded. Hot tubs and pools were full of kids all day. Shows were mostly the same as in September. All in all, the ship was much better and we did have a nice, relaxing time.
