First, AMA decided to use a port of embarkation and debarkation that was different from the one that was scheduled when I made the reservation. There are two primary ports used by the river boat companies home porting in Paris. AMA decided on using a differeent one that was very inconvenient to local transport and to sights. The nromal ones would have been about a 15 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. Not wo with this choice. There was no explanation for why AMA was using the port except management made the decision. Further, although they sent notices to the passengers about the change, the notices let you know that cab drivers would have a problem finding this place. The notice did not tell us that they changed the debarkation port, so the next surprise was that when the ship came in at 8 pm for its one overnight in Pris at the end of the trip, you were, again at this inconvenient location. Sorry, but it looked like they were saving money by using the out of the way port.

Menu at lunch requires flagging down one of the waiters and asking for one. There is much emphasis on using the buffet. Give your guests a break if they want a menu. Read more
