We just finished another wonderful Caribbean cruise, this time on The Oasis of the Seas. We drove to Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale from Tampa in about four hours. Dropping off the luggage was the hardest part of this port. Once we dropped off the bags and walked back to the terminal it didn't take more than 15 minutes to be on board. Getting off the ship was a different story. I would not recommend booking an early flight out on disembarking day. We waited an hour past our assigned time to be dismissed to the terminal and then it still took an hour to get our luggage and get through customs. With so many passengers all leaving at the same time I don't know how they could have done it any faster.

Food - We entered at the back of the ship and walked through the Promenade to the Solarium at the front of the ship to get lunch. It was not too crowded and the food was good. We also ate dinner at the Solarium on Monday night with a half price card we got the first day at lunch. It was quiet and not crowded plus the food was good. It's a nice place for a romantic dinner for two. We ate dinner the first night at Chops. Despite all the talk of needing to make reservations before boarding, there would have been plenty of seats for a 7:30 or 8:00 seating. If you wait and make reservations on board, you can get the special of three dinners at speciality restaurants for $80. It cost us $39 each for just one dinner at Chops. The scallop appetizer was wonderful. We both got the petit filet and were very pleased. We ate dinner in the dining room the second night and the beef tenderloin was delicious. You can check the menus for the whole week on the board outside the dining room. That can help you decide which nights to choose a specialty restaurant if you want to try one.

We ate lunch at Sabors and found the food to be very good. The salsa is very fresh tasting and the guacamole was delicious. We loved the small plates so we didn't have too much food. We had seen reviews talking about a sampler plate for $20 but that must not be available anymore. On the second formal night, we ate in our dining room, the American Icon Grill, and both ordered lobster plus a prime rib to share. Delicious and cooked just right. We have had no problems with My Time Dining, but we made reservations before boarding. We did notice a long line for those without reservations. Save yourself a headache and make a reservation before you board and then change it if you have to once on board.

Cabin B1

Plenty of space. Closet had lots of hangers. Loved being able to see off the back of the ship. Could also watch practices at the Awua Theater from our balcony.
