My wife and I have recently returned from our first sea cruise “Treasures of the Mediterranean” on board the Thomson Majesty. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience which was, in a way, a relief after having read a number of very negative and I feel unwarranted levels of criticism about the Thomson Majesty on TripAdvisor.
We sailed from Palma de Mallorca on May 10th and visited a number of interesting destinations returning one week later. Our cabin was on deck 6 amidships and was very quiet and comfortable although not that large.
It is a pity that there have been a few people who have not enjoyed this ship but I am happy to report that there were hundreds, probably more, who sailed with us and had a whale of a time. There were many things to enjoy with this cruise not least the happy, cheerful and willing crew, the excellent food in buffets, waiter serviced and Le Bistro restaurants; not forgetting, of course, the high quality entertainment. All of the acts were very good and much better than many in some of the 5 star hotels we have stayed at in Europe. We opted for the inclusive drinks package which was, I felt, good value. The organisation from airport to ship and then back again to the airport went very smoothly and the changes to itinerary, due to poor weather, were communicated well in advance by the captain. The lasting impression we have is that the people on board, of which there were a wide sector in ages, were really enjoying themselves and they were helped in this by the crew. We would certainly go again with Thomson.
The cabin was adequate but not overly large. In its arrangement with a double bed some space was lost in the centre of the cabin. The shower / toilet space was adequate but quite small. The bed was very comfortable and the cabin was kept very clean and well stocked. It was 'made up' early every day. There was no noise at all in the cabin, either from the ship or extraneous noises.
