Our 6th cruise with Celebrity & 2nd time on Silhouette. We've done the Mediterranean and Alaska. We chose this cruise for the destinations and WOW - we were not disappointed. The excellent weather (20 degrees) in most ports was a bonus and probably not typical for this time of year. If you want to experience something different then this itinerary is for you.

Amsterdam has a lot to offer. We arrived the day before our cruise. We stayed in The Hilton Doubletree right next to the train station & were able to walk with our cases from the train to the hotel. The train's an easy ride from the Airport. We recommend the Hop On /Off Boat trip which takes around 2 hours and you'll see the best of the city. For dinner 6 of us enjoyed Van Speyk Restaurant, 10 minutes walk from the hotel. (on tripadvisor).

Embarkation was easy. Cabins were ready by 1pm...amazing feat. The Silhouette is in excellent shape, very well maintained...still looks new. We had 4 at sea days, the first & last on The North Sea were a little bit choppy but we've had worse on the Med. The other two on The Baltic were calm & sunny with lots to do on board. 1st stop for Berlin. Celebrity forewarned everyone that it was a major public holiday with shops etc closed so we cancelled our trip to Berlin by train and stayed in Warnemunde, a very pretty seaside resort (also closed) but it would have been a good spot on a normal day.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 3

Cabin C3

Deck 10, Port Side Aft. A quiet spot with little passing traffic and an excellent view of the Stockholm Archipeligo sailing in & out. As always, we find Concierge Cabins more than big enough for two people, with plenty storage. We had robes, umbrellas (didn't need those), binoculars, hairdryer, toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel & body lotion, tissues. Plenty towels, changed whenever you want., Two American sockets & one European. Interactive TV, Mini Bar & Safe. The double wardrobe, over bed storage, 3 deep drawers and space for suitcases under the bed means you've plenty room for all of your things. The bathroom's offer clever & generous storage too.

Port Reviews

Berlin

Warnemunnde is very pretty & has more than enough for a day if you're not going to Berlin.

Tallinn

You do not need an excursion in Tallinn. Use the ship's shuttle & walk.

Helsinki

Helsinki is a beautiful spot especially from the water. We took a boat tour (2 hours) from the harbour Highlights include seeing Finland's Ice Breaker fleet. There is lots of upmarket shopping in Helsinki and a lovely pedestrianised centre. Hotel Kamp was excellent for lunch. You do not need an excursion here, use the ship's shuttle bus.

Stockholm

Stockholm is breathtaking. Get up early to enjoy the 'sail in' (takes at least 3 hours) and then either walk from the port (30 minutes to the old Town) or get on a hop on off bus at the pier (you can buy the tickets on board the ship). We took the round the full loop and got off at stop 9. Walked the promenade before strolling back through the old town and walked back to the ship. The old town is the spot for lunch.

Copenhagen

You'll be tired by the time you reach Copenhagen and it's a tad similar to Helsinki & Stockholm but bigger & less pretty but worth seeing is the small fishing harbour of Nyhaven which is a 10 minute walk from the ship's shuttle drop off point.

Amsterdam

There is no need for an excursion in Amsterdam. There are countless hop on /off boats & buses.
