Itinerary My other half wanted St Thomas and Aruba, and this cruise not only gave us that, but embarkation was from San Juan, which is my favorite island. The itinerary.was excellent, a great mix of both lush and desert islands. I read in some reviews that the ship was outdated, but did not find it so. The omission of both robes and iron in the staterooms were a disappointment, but not a great one. The crew was great, the dining room food was excellent, and the Chef's Table we attended was memorable. Our steward, Dwayne from Jamaica, was excellent. So was Dickson (Goa) and Lenice (Belize) in the dining room.
The shows were so-so, but there was a soloist in the shows who had a wonderful voice, and the dancing was great. the buffet was so-so, but I've never seen a ship's buffet that was better than that. My SO constantly complained that the food was not hot. i don't know if that's even possible under the circumstances. Also every morning the bacon was underdone .I must say that this ship had the best coffee of any ship I have sailed on without buying it from the coffee shop and the addition of hot milk was a blessing. I did not use the shore excursions from the ship, but they made me rate them. the poor is for price only. I got excellent tours of every island for $20 per with 2 hours at the beach and was picked up and brought back to the ship in plenty of time.
We decided to forgo a balcony this trip, and picked this large cabin in the bow instead. Great cabin with plenty of space and a great view of the path of the ship. Warning: If you are prone to seasickness, this is not the cabin for you. Too much movement. Pick the middle of the ship. It rocked me to sleep every night.
I have been to San Juan 5 times, so didn't need a tour. Poured down raining the whole evening.
