Sail Date: May 2016
Cabin: Havana Cabana (Balcony)

We have gone on several Carnival cruises and have never been disappointed. We like the value you get with Carnival as well as the great food and entertainment. This was our first time to Europe and were so excited that Carnival had a new ship with just the route we were looking for.

We sailed out of Barcelona and flew in a day early. We took the metro and explored on our own for half a day. What we saw was awesome and I would love to go back and explore more.

The embarkation went really smoothly. We were on the ship in less than an hour. I heard that some people that came a little later had a rough time and it took almost four hours.

Cabin Review

Havana Cabana (Balcony)

Cabin HE

The cabin was very spacious with plenty of storage space. There were several shelves along with three drawers. Two closets for hanging clothes. Two big drawers under the sofa. Lots of room under the bed for our three big suitcases where we kept dirty clothes and all our shoes. The bathroom has plenty of shelves for storage. The shower seems to have shrunk but that could have been my imagination. The balcony is a good size with two chairs, a regular chair and ottoman and a lounger. We were excited about having a Havana cabin on the Aft so we could have the view from the back but didn't like the fact we could look right down on the balconies below us and the balconies above us had a great view of our balcony. I did like the fact we had private access to the pool in the Havana area before six but hardly got to take advantage of it with all the full days of excursions. This will be a great benefit once the ship is doing a Carribean route with more sea days and warmer weather. I hope they do a better job of making sure everyone in the area is wearing the Havana wristbands, a lot of non Havana people made it in the area for hours before anyone approaches them. I heard some people complaining of noise from the Havana club. It didn't bother me and you could barely hear it.

Port Reviews

Rhodes

The Old Town of Rhodes is an easy ten minute walk from the dock. We decided to walk around on our own. After long days of being "herded" around it was so nice to look at what we wanted. This town is awesome and had endless shops and restaurants. The old fort like buildings are everywhere and the ambiance is wonderful. I wish we could have explored this town at night. I bet it is a sight!

Athens (Piraeus)

Again we decided to explore on our own. I am so glad we did! There was a bus top for the express bus X80 right outside the cruise terminal. It cost 4.50 euro each and was food for 24 hours. It took us right near the Acropolis. We tried to get there before all the crowds and got about halfway through the sites before all the tour groups came. Still amazing to see! A must do if you are in Athens. I had found some shops through my research that I wanted to go to. We mapped it out and found the shop where a man hand makes chess and backgammon sets from olive wood. Then we found the Sandal Poet who has been making sandals for decades. Picked out a pair and had them fixed especially for my feet while we waited! We explored more on our own, had a nice lunch and took the express bus right back to our ship!

Barcelona

Took the metro and explored on our own!
