Our cruise was the "Western Itinerary" (Voyage 8618). Let me start by praising the expedition team and their leader. We rated them a "10" in every respect. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. The variety of shore excursions could not have been better. Previous reviewers mention problems communicating with the Ecuadorean crew. This was not our experience at all.
I told them upon boarding that I could not eat cilantro. It did not appear that the dining staff made any effort to accommodate me, although they were able to point out which dishes on the menu contained cilantro. Some of the stews looked delicious - I wish I had been offered a cilantro-free serving of the lamb stew.
Frankly, I only have one real complaint about the ship: on arrival, a handout in our cabin advised us of the internet fees (steep). We decided to do without. However, on day 5, some of the other passengers we met told us they were getting the internet for free! I asked at reception and was told that since we were in a deluxe veranda cabin (420), we were entitled to free internet for the entire cruise! Thanks a lot for not telling us on day 1!
Our cabin was kept spotless. Everything there worked fine except the safe: some days it would not lock and other days it would not open. I told the reception desk about it, suggesting it might need a fresh battery, but we finally quit using it towards the last few days of the cruise, fearing our passports would have to be accessed with an acetylene torch .
