Cabin: Grand Suite

This was a Jekyll and Hyde cruise. The cabin, a Grand Suite was the most functional cabin we have ever stayed in and was at a bargain price. There was a functional flow to the layout, with enough closet space, more drawer space than we needed for 10 days a comfortable sitting area and an excellent bathroom with dual sinks, lots of storage space and a full tub. We could quibble about electrical outlet placement but the only serious flaw was the safe was too small to hold a laptop.

The cabin service was excellent, with a constant supply of ice and towels and restocking of toiletries as necessary. We received a bowl of fruit and on a number of afternoons there were canapes waiting for us on our return. Room service.......trying to get a bottle of decent wine before 5 pm was impossible but if you purchased a bottle with dinner you could take what you didn't drink back to your room.

The concierge lounge available for suite guests was a highlight with a very good, very pleasant and very attentive attendant. The lounge's location toward the stern of the ship as a walled off area of one of the bars was not appealing. The same was true for the "Diamond" member lounge. The beverages and hor d'oeuvres were the same in the Concierge and the Diamond lounge, the only difference being the location.
