We sailed on the Escape because we have sailed 2 times before on NCL ships and we were interested in seeing their newest ship. We received a great price through Vacations to Go, including the Ultimate Dining Package for a "large oceanview" cabin 5132.
Our experience did not start off very well. We have 32 cruises under our belt since 2002 and this is the first time we were shocked to see that this cabin did not have anywhere to sit except on the end of the bed and a little "foot stool" under a very small vanity, and the large oceanview window was small at the head to the bed and you could only enjoy seeing if you stood up. Not a great set-up, especially for seniors who need back support when seated.
We were so unhappy when we got to our room the first day, that we did not unpack but went immediately down to guest services to see if we could upgrade to a cabin with a couch, even if we had to pay extra. We got nowhere with the man behind the counter so we tracked down the assistant hotel manager, Errol Nelson. My husband was ready to leave the ship before it sailed but we had no other plans for the week regarding where to stay, etc.
Balcony stateroom very spacious and yes..... it had a couch!!
