We wanted to celebrate our 25th anniversary in Paris but also wanted to see some of the countryside without renting a car, driving for hours and unpacking in a new lodging every night. This trip was perfect. As it was our first trip to Paris, we stayed an extra week in Paris proper, having already made the usual day trips to Versailles and Giverny from the cruise.

The ship is beautiful but as ours was only it's second cruise, we did experience some "shaking down" issues with items in our stateroom. The crew couldn't have been more accommodating, however, so it was a minor inconvenience.

The trip to the beaches of the Normandy invasion was far more impressive to us than we could have imagined. We enjoyed all of the excursions and we always take advantage of the optional ones as we have had wonderful discoveries with Viking's options.
