Local friends told us about it. Viking’s reputation was a big part of this, as were the TV ads that made it seem attractive. It was all that we expected and more. We had a great time. The guides were well-prepared, the food and entertainment was terrific, and the new friends we met were very interesting and great companions. The staff did a wonderful job of organizing and directing us, and we felt comfortable and safe throughout the journey.
The best thing about the Grand European Tour was the quality of the accommodations, the condition of the ship, and the way we were treated. The weather was variable, but we had a wonderful time every day, and we would love to do it again. The only unexpected event was the requirement that we change ships midway through the tour, but even that was accommodated without anxiety and the crew made it absolutely easy for us to do that. The new ship we moved to was identical except we lost some of our favorite wait staff when that happened. The cities where we docked were all accommodating, and the streets and places we went were safe and fascinating. It was a GREAT vacation trip.
Our cabin was ample in size, well outfitted for what we were doing, and had a very comfortable bed. We loved the under-bed storage for our empty bags, and appreciated the ingenious way Viking has designed these new long boats. We wished we had been higher in the ship, but we loved the trip.
