We have always wanted to go to Amsterdam. I also love flowers, and wanted to see the fields of tulips. We had been on the cruise on the Danube two years ago and had had a positive experience. We chose the pre-cruise option to be in Amsterdam two full days before the cruise. We were in the Movenpick hotel which was delightful. Its location was so convenient to the transportation to the city centre and found it an easy city to get around in. The Viking people were very helpful at the hotel and at the airport, so we were happy with the service there. We sailed on the Aegir, and it was very similar to our Danube ship.

I have arthritis in my knee and used a cane and walker. The elevator was very convenient and I used it every day. I also appreciated being put in the excursion groups for the slower walkers. We called ourselves "the gimp group!" The food was marvelous, the entertainment was fun and pertinent to the tour, and the service by all in charge was excellent. We would be happy to recommend a Viking tour to anyone!
