Our cruise was the Christmas Market Cruise on the Danube from Budapest to Nuremberg in late December 2015. The boat was a Viking Baldur, not the Njord as originally scheduled because the Njord had some sort of mechanical problem. But the Baldur was delightful, made more so by our occupancy of one of the two owners' cabins on the stern. The food was terrific and the service was superb. The itinerary was great, and the land tours were well organized and led, and interesting. The only downside on the whole trip was that Viking did not tell us (if they knew) that the Christmas Markets in Germany close on 12/23 so we missed seeing some of them toward the end of the trip. After the cruise terminated in Nuremberg we took the extension to Prague which was well worth it. Viking did a very good job in maintaining a warm and friendly environment during this trip -- which is a major reason we keep coming back to Viking. This was our fifth Viking river cruise.

Cabin Review

Explorer Suite

Cabin ES

Cabin was large and well-appointed, with a bedroom and separate sitting room, large bath and roomy entry hall. We enjoyed our private balcony which surrounded the back and side of the cabin and had plenty of room to sit outside.
