Liberty of the Seas just began departing from Galveston a few months ago. We have been excited to be able to drive to our cruise port with a step up in size from the Navigator of the Seas.

Boarding went very well. We unfortunately arrived during the height of the crowd, and it is a large ship, so the lines were long. For our small group it was very quick due to the Junior Suite that we had booked. Kudos to RC for that benefit, but we usually do not have much problem boarding because we arrive after the majority of the crowd.

Since we are frequent cruisers, we have access to the Diamond Lounge and "free" drinks for happy hour. This has been one of Royal Caribbean Crown & Anchor benefits that we have really appreciated. So, our first evening on ship, after muster and before dinner we went up to the Lounge. The staff in the Diamond Lounge were completely overwhelmed. It was a disaster. The lounge itself was stuffed wall-to-wall with seating, but completely inadequate. We were told that there were over 1400 Diamond members on board - and there is no venue that can handle that many. But it was sad. LONG, LONG line for the "free" drinks and appetizers. Just horrible.

Cabin Review

Junior Suite

The cabin was very nicely appointed and had adequate space. Our steward, Harry, was excellent. We have learned from experience to bring modified extension cords to accommodate our needs. There are only 2 outlets in the main room, both only on one side of the cabin at the vanity area, none on the other side near the bed. We are prepared for that, as well as the single outlet in the bath. I have altered several extension cords so that they can be used in most of the cabins that we have had cruising. (For folks with electric toothbrushes, razors, waterpicks, etc., they don't need much power, but need to be plugged in.)

Port Reviews

Galveston

We just took a walk near the port.

Cozumel

We just went walking in and near the port area. It was fine.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Again, we just walked in and around the port area. It was fine.
